@bibl_vsek#WritersAnniversaries
September 8 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Rasul Gamzatov.
Rasul Gamzatovich Gamzatov is one of the most beloved poets of Dagestan, who, however, was not only a poet, because in his creative treasury, in addition to lyrical works, there are also journalistic works and prose masterpieces. Gamzatov began writing poetry early - at the age of 9, but such an early start gave an excellent start to the author’s further poetic career. Gamzatov especially loved poems about love, which he always turned out pure, fresh and pristine, regardless of the age at which he wrote them.
Such collections of poems as “Dagestan Spring”, “Fiery Love and Burning Hatred”, “Our Mountains”, “My Heart is in the Mountains”, “The Year of My Birth”, “Zarema”, “Mountain Woman” and others are vivid examples of How successfully Rasul Gamzatov knew how to intertwine poems about love with works about his native land and his father’s house, about friendship and fidelity, about happiness and the meaning of life.
Gamzatov constantly wrote poems about love; the poet could not imagine his life without sublime feelings, he did not know his fate without it. All of his lyrical work can be characterized by one, but very capacious line: “Love is my constant companion.”
All of Rasul Gamzatovich’s poetry is imbued with love themes, and even where he reflects on other human feelings, on family and friendship, on traditions and the Motherland, unsurpassed tenderness and love glides everywhere. Therefore, we can say with full responsibility that Gamzatov created poems about love, extolling this feeling above the rest:
I tell them: “There is love,
And, feeling her crown,
A young man easily grows up,
And the old man is getting younger again..."
May 31st - Day of Remembrance for Victims of Political Repression and Famine
Every year, May 31 in Kazakhstan is celebrated as the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Political Repression and Famine, a memorial date dedicated to one of the most difficult pages in the historical chronicle of the 20-50s of the 20th century - mass political repression and horrific famine. More than 100 thousand Kazakhstanis went through the millstone of repression, more than 25 thousand of whom were shot.
Among the innocently convicted were such prominent government and political figures as A. Bokeikhan, A. Baitursynuly, M. Tynyshpaev, M. Dulatuly, T. Ryskulov, M. Zhumabaev, S. Seifullin, I. Zhansugurov, B. Mailin, S. Asfendiyarov and many others. During the years of repression, over five million people from all corners of the former Soviet Union were exiled to our republic.
There were 11 Gulag camps in Kazakhstan, the largest of which were “Dalniy”, “Sandy”, “KarLag”, “ALZHIR”, “Stepnoy” and “KamyshLag”.
During the years of Stalin's rule, 800 thousand Germans, 102 thousand Poles, 19 thousand Korean families, 507 thousand representatives of the peoples of the North Caucasus were deported to Kazakhstan.
For many peoples who suffered from totalitarianism, the Kazakh land has become a real home. The courage and patience of our ancestors allowed us to overcome the most difficult trials with dignity and unite into a single nation. The memory of the colossal human sacrifices and the cruel drama of those years left a tragic mark in the heart of every Kazakhstani.
The Great Patriotic War left an indelible mark on everyone's life. Sons, brothers, fathers and grandfathers went to the front. Many of them were not destined to return, many were wounded, but even those who returned alive and healthy forever retained the blood of their fellow soldiers in their memory.
We remember and honor the participants of the Great Patriotic War, those who forged Victory!
As part of the implementation of the “Reading College” concept and the month of “The Feat of the People to Live for Centuries,” dedicated to Victory Day on May 9, the VSEC library prepared a virtual exhibition “The Immortal Feat of Our Countrymen,” dedicated to our fellow countrymen - North Kazakhstanis, Heroes of the Soviet Union.

The Baikonur Cosmodrome became the main harbor from where Soviet and then Russian and foreign ships departed for space voyages.
In the reading room of the college library, a book exhibition “The Path to the Stars” was organized for this day.
The book exhibition presents brightly illustrated books that will help readers get acquainted with the history of the development of astronautics, expand their knowledge about the Universe, cosmic bodies and phenomena.

January 10, 2023 marked the 140th anniversary of the birth of Alexei Nikolaevich Tolstoy, one of the largest Soviet writers and the most controversial figures in 20th-century literature.
Titan, classic, lumps, third Tolstoy, “red count” - this is how Alexei Tolstoy was called in the Soviet Union. At the age of 16, he began writing poetry, which he owed to his mother Alexandra Leontyevna, née Turgeneva, a children's writer.
The creative heritage of Alexei Tolstoy amazes with its variety of genres. Throughout his entire creative life, Alexei Tolstoy carried his love for his great Motherland, for the Russian word, for folk tales. And these feelings are reflected in his works, which will forever remain in the golden fund of Russian literature.
Achievements of Alexey Tolstoy:
• 4 novels, two of which became classics of Russian literature
• Wrote about fifty novels and short stories, and more than 40 plays
• Many of the writer’s works have been filmed
• Received three Stalin Prizes
• In 2001, the Russian Writers' Union established the A.N. Tolstoy Prize, which is awarded every 2 years. The award is given to authors who have made a significant contribution to the development of Russian literature.
The virtual exhibition “Russian Character” will introduce you to the work of Alexei Nikolaevich Tolstoy.
January 25 marks the 85th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Semenovich Vysotsky, a Soviet poet, theater and film actor, songwriter; author of prose works and scripts; Laureate of the USSR State Prize.
The work of Vladimir Vysotsky is interesting and multifaceted. He wrote more than 600 songs and poems, played more than 20 roles on the stage of theaters, 30 roles in films and television films, 8 in radio plays.
But for a very long time there was no officially published collection of the poet’s poems in his homeland. During his lifetime, Vladimir Vysotsky so wanted to see a book where the author’s name, his name, would be typed in his native language.
Today the number of publications of Vysotsky’s books has exceeded one hundred. Unfortunately, they are all published without his participation, just like the first book, “Nerve,” which appeared in 1981.
The history of this book, like the biography of its author, is covered in legends and myths, has its own mysteries and their interpretations. These interpretations vary and do not provide any clarity.
In his poems and songs, Vysotsky managed to convey the mentality and way of thinking of the Russian people. He expressed some kind of daring, despair, the confusion of the life of this very people. We can talk about Vysotsky endlessly...
His work is still interesting and relevant, it “lives” among the people.
His works contain inexhaustible power, unostentatious tenderness and the scope of the human soul, and they also contain memory, the memory of roads traveled and years passed, our memory and history.
