March 1st is Thanksgiving!

For seven years, Kazakhstanis celebrate the first day of spring with the word "thank you". On the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, since 2016, March 1 has been declared Thanksgiving Day. There is a reason why Kazakhstanis celebrate Thanksgiving on the first day of spring. On this day in 1995, the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, an institution that has become a symbol of solidarity, unity and friendship of all ethnic groups living in the country, was founded. March 1 is a bright holiday of kindness, friendship and mutual love of all Kazakhstanis.

Thanksgiving Day is a day of respect and honor for all residents of Kazakhstan. A multinational country is the result of several waves of migration to Kazakhstan. During Stolypin's agrarian reform, many ethnic groups were deported to the territory of our country. People were taken off the wagons right in the middle of the steppe, Kazakhs invited them to their homes and showed care, helped them to survive and settle in our steppe. At the beginning of the 20th century, about 1 million people were deported to Kazakhstan from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine, and during the years of collectivization, 250,000 dispossessed peasants and 1.2 million people were deported to industrial sites.

Thanksgiving Day is a tribute to the past, thanks to all the people for their help during exile. This holiday instills a sense of tolerance and respect for each other in the younger generation and contributes to the strengthening of interethnic relations.

Happy Thanksgiving Day -1 March!
